First Ever Podcast!

I have been working on my first ever podcast recently! I found a good microphone, and thought I would use it. The podcast will be named 60 Frames Per Second, and will be all about the latest happenings in the video game world. What does this mean for you? You get to listen to my podcast, and hear me talk about the coolest in games! And, that I won't be posting as much about games in here as I would have... I will have the podcast (or audiocast or blogcast, whatever) up and running with RSS and download links probably by the end of tonight or Sunday. I think it will be in Odeo, and OurMedia (nothing confirmed yet.) I am also wanting to get it into iTunes, but I’m not sure how easy that will be. I will have a blog set up just for it, at this address. The shownotes will be posted on both sites though. It will run around 12 to 15 minutes, depending on how I edit it. When it comes, be ready!

China Officially Bans PKing...

No more PvP? That is what China's government is saying. Apparently, if you live in China, play games like Halo and Counter Strike, and are under the age of 18, you are screwed. They have passed a law that says if you are underage, then you can't play any violent online games. other non-player characters is fine, so don't worry if all you PvE people don't want to leave Everquest yet. To prove your age, you would enter your ID number, then that will be checked and allow you to play. As Kotaku states, this is a great way to spike Identity Theft. I guess China thinks that video games are literally our youth, too.

How-To: Make XP Look Like Vista

Windows Vista is supposed to, by default, sport a black, sleek looks to it, as many screenshots suggest. But what if you want the nice look, but do not want to (legally) download the Beta from Microsoft (Because things like these are just plain evil) and have to live with a buggy OS? Then you should download the Vista Theme for Windows XP. It makes your computer look like Windows Vista, without the constant crashes (oh wait, this is Windows!) and stupid glass things. It is fairly simple, and I have a little tutorial so you can learn.

1. Download the free tool UXTheme Multi-Patcher, and the theme Longhorn 5203. Note that you can use the tool WindowsBlinds to do this more easily, but it is not free.

2. Make sure to backup your uxtheme.dll file in your \WINDOWS\system32 directory.

3. Run UXTheme Multipatcher and follow the prompts. Your uxtheme.dll file will have its Windows File Protection removed and will be patched to allow custom themes, then you should reboot as required.

4. Extract the contents of the 'Longhorn 5203' archive to sit directly under your \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\ directory.

5. Go to Control Panel>Display and select the Appearance tab. Under the 'Windows and Buttons' scroll box, select the new Longhorn theme. Then under 'Color Scheme' select one of the variations of the theme which suits you, and click the Apply button to see how it looks on your Desktop. 1. Download the free tool UXTheme Multi-Patcher, and the theme Longhorn 5203. Note that you can use the tool WindowsBlinds to do this more easily, but it is not free. Full Article, with screenshots

Geeked Out Lego's!

Do you love Lego’s? Do you love Halo? If you said yes or no to either of those questions, you should go check out this cool site with tons of Halo Lego figures. It has banshees. It has Master Chief. It has a jackal. It has grunts. It has sentinels. It even has a cool warthog! And an even cooler Pelican. And an even cool for non-Halo fans Pillar of Autumn. Of course, the person who makes these, is a total geek, and didn't leave out collections for all the other cool stuff. Here he has some other sets, like Lord of the Rings, Metal Gear Solid, and other various collections. These are some cool creations, and if you like a neat form of art, check this out. You will love it.

Man Dies From...Gaming?

No post in three days!?! I know, I'm just lazy...but you will have to get used to it. Instead of a ton every day, expect a pretty good amount every few days. With school starting back up, I just don't have the time! (Segway of the year!) Of course, I could just quit school, like this guy quit his job, and die from playing too many video games. And I'm completely serious, too.

"A South Korean man who played computer games for 50 hours almost non-stop died of heart failure minutes after finishing his mammoth session in an Internet cafe, authorities said on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old man, identified only by his family name Lee, had been playing online battle simulation (editor: I am guessing something like Battlefield 1942 or Counter Strike) games at the cybercafe in the southeastern city of Taegu, police said.

Lee had planted himself in front of a computer monitor to play on-line games on August 3. He only left the spot over the next three days to go to the toilet and take brief naps on a makeshift bed, they said.

"We presume the cause of was heart failure stemming from exhaustion," a Taegu provincial police official said by telephone.

Lee had recently quit his job to spend more time playing games." Full Article

I am just surprised he wasn't playing an MMORPG...believe me, I have stories...
